My name is Alice John, owner of AJ Fitness and Sports Massage.
At the age of 14, after retiring from elite gymnastics, I began coaching competitive gymnastics where I gained my first experience of training young athletes.
After qualifying as a Level 3 gymnastics coach I had direct responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of training programmes for a group of young athletes who were working towards national competitions. I also planned and ran adult gymnastics classes, helping adults achieve the basics of gymnastics. The experiences I had working as high level gymnastics coach has had a great impact in helping me to develop the skills necessary for training others in the world of health and fitness.
I have become enthusiastically involved in fitness for many years and transferred my skills and knowledge from gymnastics coaching to gain my CrossFit Level 1 trainer qualification. This has meant I have been able to assist in the coaching of classes. As a competitive athlete I have a wide range of knowledge about programming, using different training systems to produce different outcomes and the importance of recovery and nutrition. I am able to offer clients advice and knowledge through first hand experience.
During my time coaching, I have been as passionate about injury prevention and rehabilitation as I have achieving success . Through Sports Massage Therapy my goal is to help athletes perform to their maximum potential whilst ensuring longevity of their athletic careers.
I am passionate about all sports and I realise that recovery plays a key part in performance and remaining injury free. I want to bring my experience to my clients to help nurture their bodies and reach their peak potential.
